Ketut Gede Susana is a relative of my family.
I have admired his paintings for quite some time and it is my desire to help him get the recognition and support he is so deserving of on an international level.
Ketut lives in a small village on the island of Bali. His environment is sparse as he comes from an impoverished background. He is a very humble, sensitive man who is fortunate to have the gift of being able to express himself through the fine art of painting.
Ketut also works five days a week teaching art to children with special needs in a Special Education School near his village. Some of his students have won awards for their work. This takes up a lot of his time and energy, leaving nights and weekends for his painting. It takes him an average of 45 to 60 hours to paint a canvas.
Here on Bali it is almost impossible for an artist to get international recognition and local recognition is not financially supportive enough for many artists to continue to pursue their gift of art.
With this in mind I am hoping you will come to love and enjoy Ketut’s paintings as much as we do and not only help support him so he can progress with what he loves so much but also give yourself, or others, the gift of something that will bring joy into your life forever.
I wish you all the best...enjoy!
BIO
Hello,
My name is Ketut Gede Susana. I am a Balinese man born on 8 June 1986, in the village of Apuan in the Baturiti district of Tabanan Regency on Bali.
As a child I became very interested in art naturally at a very young age. I would sketch on paper and what I call “scratch streaking on walls.â€?It was fun and interesting to me at that young age.
My greatest interest in painting is realist painting with the idea and inspiration that I find in Balinese culture and the beauty in nature. Balinese culture is rich in tradition, beauty of nature, and passion for life.
My formal art education began at the school of fine arts in Sukuwati, graduating in 2014. My major was painting. This is when my background in painting and painting became more important to me. After the schooling in Sukuwati I attended The Institute of Art in Denpasar where I learned many other techniques in painting and other medium that deepened my skills as a realist painter.
I now work in various medium such as both oil and acrylic on canvas, pastel, pencil, charcoal, and others. I strive to show life in it’s most realistic way throught various methods of expression.
It is my hope that you will love my work as much as I love creating it.
A painting is something you select to live with for the rest of your life. It becomes a part of you and your environment.
