I'm a full-time Pet Portrait and Wildlife artist specialising in detailed, realistic animal paintings using oil on canvas. All of my paintings are traditionally hand painted in oils on high quality American cotton canvas.

Pet portrait paintings are the perfect way to honor your beloved pet, they also make a unique and memorable gift for a loved one. I spend many hours perfecting each one, meticulously hand painting each individual hair.

Prices - The price of a commissioned oil painting depends on the size. The sizes I have listed are standard sizes which will fit standard frames (I supply paintings unstretched an unframed). I can also offer custom sizes, so if you require a different size then just let me know. The prices are for one animal in the painting. The price will increase slightly for more than one animal in the painting or a more scenic background, so please contact me first if you require this as I can make a custom listing price.

How to Order -

If you are interested in commissioning a pet portrait, you can contact me first and email me your best photo/s. It is important to have a good quality photograph to work from so that I am able to see the detail in the animal's features and therefore achieve the best results (tips for photographing your pet for a painting are below). If you would like to send several photos for me to choose the best one, that's absolutely fine. At the time of contacting me, I can then give you a time frame for the completion of the painting (as it depends on how many commissions I have at the time). By contacting me, you are under no obligation to make an order.

Once we have discussed your requirements, if you're happy to go ahead you can select the desired size, click 'Add to Cart' and follow the steps to make the payment. Upon completion of the painting, I will send you a photo of it. Assuming you are completely happy with it, the painting will be sent (unstretched and unframed). I leave a border of 1.5 inches around the edges of the painting for stretching/framing purposes. The painting will be sent rolled in a sturdy postal tube, I have found this to be the safest way to send artwork. For your peace of mind, I give an unconditional guarantee that you are not obliged to buy the finished painting if you decide not to, and in this case your payment will be refunded.

Tips for photographing your pet for a painting -

- If possible, photograph your pet outside (without flash) as the natural lighting will show their colours more accurately. However, avoid strong sunlight as this may make areas of the photo too bright or cast dark shadows. A bright but overcast day would be ideal.

- If you're unable to photograph outside, try to photograph in a room that is well lit with natural light. Avoid using the flash or having indoor lights on.

- Get to the same eye level as your pet. Avoid taking the photo either looking down or up at them, unless you particularly want this type of shot.

- So I can see the detail of your pet's features, it is important to have a clear, high resolution photograph. If you have a zoom lens, all the better! If not, just try to get at a close distance whilst staying in focus.

- If you would like more than one animal in the painting, it is better to photograph them separately to get the best shot of each one. It will also help me to see a photo the animals together too, if possible, just so I can see the difference in size.
