The painting is generally head and shoulder only and is done on a canvas board in 12x16 inches (30x40cm) and 16x20 inches (40x50cm) sizes. If you need a special size other than the ones listed here or have other requirements please contact me first.
There're a few things worth bearing in mind when you order a portrait from me.
1. It's important that you select good photos, images that say something to you. For portraits, it is usually better if the subject does NOT have a big smile! Also, it's not always necessary for the subject to be looking directly at the camera. Choose something that reflects the person's personality and character.
2. The reference photos you provide are crucial for making a stunning oil portrait. The colour, size and detail of the photo will also to a great extent determine the outcome of the painting.
3. It's a good idea to send me different images so we can choose the best one for the painting. I have done commissions from poor reference photos. In those cases, it always takes a lot more time and effort to make the painting.
Once the portrait is finished it will take some time to dry, and then to varnish in order to protect it for the years to come.
The process to complete a single oil portrait from start to delivery can take between 2 and 4 weeks.
